They produced many heroes, both Pakeha and Maori, including Von Tempsky, Rewi Maniapoto, Governor Grey and Te Kooti. They also produced many stories, of bravery and heroism, and of cruelty and folly. The wars continue to have an impact on the shape of the country today. Suggested level: intermediate, junior secondary.
