30/04/2015 06:57:31 | The Selection is a memorable Story about decisions, love, and loss. The first book in a trilogy, it is set in a dystopian USA, known there as Illea, where the people are split into castes; Ones being of royalty and importance to the royal family (and Illea) through to Eights, who are the homeless, jobless caste. It revolves around a 17 year old girl named America Singer, a Five, being entered into The Selection, where one young woman from each province is selected to enter a competition ultimately to win Prince Maxons heart. America faces many trials, but will she win the dream lifestyle and dream prince? Or will she be back to singing at parties for tips, scraping money up just to survive? I recommend this book to girls (or boys) who enjoy dystopian books with a bit of action, some romance, and heated rivalries! Through all three books*, follow America on her journey and feel like one in the Selection too. 4 ½ STARS *In order; The Selection, The Elite, The One. |
